Thanks Deb and Debbie. Yes, I like the flute harmony too, Lisa added notes from the chords on the 1st B section and then a harmony I wrote the 3rd time through, I played it the 2nd time through. Happy to send the music if you’d like to play it, just not sure how to attach it to this page.

Hi Marg, I just played around with attaching a file and the easiest way I could figure it out was to add the pdf/file to my photos and add it that way. We’ll work on making this process easier for people to share music.

Singing to baby Veda. She’s got another 1-2 weeks before she comes home. In case you didn’t hear, we are adopting her. She was born addicted to opiates (methadone). She’s fighting the good fight, slowly weaning off of morphine which keeps her body stable, allowing her to eat and breathe normally.
The song is called “This Is The Day” off of one of…[Read more] -

@fiddl3hed Here’s a cool Irish reel called The Girl Who Broke My Heart. Gearing up for St. Paddy’s day ☘️. I love how the B part goes between G and F major. I played it with a G drone. With a lot of folk music, you can use a single drone as backup for the whole song. You can also use drones to practice. TIP: to play faster use less bow, less energy. PS: I teach this tune in the FiddleHed course (the fun way to learn fiddle online 🎻) . . . #fiddletok #violintok #firesidefiddle #learnfiddle #learnviolin #fiddle #violin #oldtime #oldtimefiddle #appalachianmusic #appalachianfiddle #irishfiddle #irishmusic #celticmusic #fiddlelesson #fiddlelessons #violinlesson #violinlessons #bluegrass #Irish #folk #folkmusic #mandolin #diegosumbrella

I was working on pentatonic scales in module 2.5 and decided to challenge myself to write something restricted to pentatonic. Chose the key of G so that meant I couldn’t use any C’s or F sharps. It was a really interesting experiment, this is the result. Had fun playing it with my friends, Wayne, Lisa and Keith, the boys dressed for the part, we…[Read more]

That was lovely Joanne, nice gentle double stops and improv. Isn’t it fun? All these new doors being opened for us to experiment. Thanks for sharing your playing, always inspiring.😊

Joanne, I loved how you interwove double stops into your improv. They didn’t seem forced at all. Very beautiful and nice bowing as well.

I really like that & the 3 parts interweave so sweetly. I didn’t know the tune before so thank you for sharing it.

I LOVE this. I just downloaded the GarageBand app for my phone and hoping to find some good YouTube vids on how to use the darn thing. Real leary about downloading the PC version. Does anyone have any insight on that version?
-
Don, thanks for reaching out on this and sharing the interest 🎶 I find it a great free platform for recording and mixing parts together. I utilize garage band on my laptop, I do not have it on my phone though that is something I will also consider. The ways to use the program may vary between the phone app and desktop app. I would certainly…

@joanneiles, what form of Garageband do you use? 🎶🎄
-
I use a free version of Garageband. I don’t think I use it to it’s full potential as it seems very complicated. I found some great tutorials on YouTube which just show how to record your voice and an instrument. I can’t remember who the tutorials were by now but there’s a whole series of them by the same guys each one lasts 2-3 minutes and…

Sorry forgot to say I use the free version on my Mac!

@fiddl3hed This Irish polka is a fun beginner tune. Noticing repetition makes it easier to learn: the 1st and 3rd quarters of the A part are the same. Same goes for the B part. And the 2nd and 4th quarter are the same for both parts. #fiddletok #violintok #violinlesson #fiddlelessons #irishfiddle

@fiddl3hed Here’s one of my favorite Irish reels call ed Tam Lin. There’s lots of fun string crossing in the A Part. Gearing up for St. Patrick’s Day! ☘️ I have two lessons for this in my course, one is a basic lesson and the other you learn how to add variation. Let me know if you have any special requests for St. Patrick’s Day or lessons. #fiddletok#violintok#violinlesson#fiddlelessons#irishfiddle
