Beginner Group 3 years, 3 months agoDoing a review of first level tunes I discover that Little Liza Jane was way way too fast. Even now that I’ve been here several months I find the last part of the play-along track too fast. Anybody else?
-
Thanks for sharing Margaret. Yes it’s quite fast. I tried to thumb strum it with fiddle in guitar position and that helped at bit. Way to try it tho, and yes, other folks have expressed similar. That’s great you’ve worked your speed to the last section of that recording. The speed will come in time. I remind myself, smaller movements and…

I have to admit that I donโt really know the difference! I just googled so now I have a dictionary definition, but I sure couldnโt listen to a tune and know which one it is. Would you mind sharing a couple good Old Time tunes that you like?
-
Hi Elise, well the difference between the two is very big, although they both have similar roots. A couple of my favorite old time tunes are Hangman’s Reel and Shove That Pigs Foot a Little Further into the Fire (quite a title, right?) Me : )
I enjoy listening to bluegrass, but enjoy playing old-time.
-
I prefer Old-Time, but have to learn bluegrass so I can participate in local jams. Locally, I have not found much in the Old-time style. I am in the Knoxville, TN area. If anyone else is in this are and interested in getting together to play, let me know.
