For some reason my go to tune is Whiskey Before Breakfast! I only ever play it when I’m struggling! That leads to Over The Waterfall and then I’m back & into my playing. On tired days I love to play soothing tunes; Midnight on the Water, Lonesome Moonlight Waltz, Dawning of the day, Lovers Waltz.

Practice a 1000 times!
OK maybe not exactly 1000 but repeating and especially as you say, the part I find the hardest. The playback samples on Fiddlehed are great for this, you can just play each quarter over & over until it’s in the memory & fingers! -

Hi Owen,
I use a mac book Pro and a Scarlett interface which lets you plug in a mic, instrument & headphones. Works well for Zoom & Garageband -

Me and my husband Richard did a version of this on GarageBand and iMovie to make this fun little vid! You may recognise the Fiddlehed rhythm section!

Thank you for sharing Joanne. I really enjoy shetlan tunes… I have some Scottish heritage in my family. You play this song beautifully, nice effects too. Really appreciate the background information aswell 🙂🎶🌈

I’ve been a bit hooked on this tune since Jason’s lesson! I’ve taken the learning points and listened & try to copy the Tyler Childers version!

Thanks both! I’ve always struggled with this tune but love it & in this different tuning it sounds like it might work better for me. I need to work on some better fingered ds & chord rhythms! Love these new challenges!

This is very much a work in progress but the resonance on this tune is lovely in this tuning

I’m playing a lot in our campervan this year & had got a bit of a cramped up & lazy posture! I saw this post & looked at my left wrist position brought it forward so I’m back to using the fingertips straight down onto the strings & can hear straight away an improvement in sound much clearer & easier to play a bit faster too!

Nice video Vera! I really like messing around with recordings like this and layering different melodies & backing, it’s fun isn’t it? I’m not familiar with the tune so thanks for sharing x
